Summer is just around the corner! I can’t wait for the extra hours of daylight and warmer temperatures — and, of course, the chance to create fun designs featuring Living Coral, the 2019 Pantone Color of the Year.
According to Pantone, Living Coral is “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enliven with a softer edge.” I agree. Here are a few of my favorite floral designs that flaunt this bright, cheerful hue.
Pink and orange blooms mix perfectly with coral. This combination of colors and textures would be perfect to send for a birthday, get well or anniversary gift or to feature as a centerpiece for a dinner party.
‘Coral Charm’ peonies are very popular when they’re in season in North America (May and June) and, as their name suggests, they definitely capture Pantone’s Color of the Year.
Cacti and succulents have been hot for several years now. Incorporating coral blossoms makes this arrangement very 2019.
A pave design with monochromatic rows with different shades of pink and peach is another great way to showcase the color of the year. This arrangement is perfectly sized for a desk or coffee table.
Simple arrangements (like this one with a peony and astilbe) in a cute container is a fun way to feature Living Coral in a small gift, perfect for a friend, loved one or teacher.
Living Coral will surely be a hit in weddings, including in floral headpieces and crowns. Mixing coral with other vibrant colors, such as yellow, orange and green, makes for a stunning statement.
The 2019 Color of the Year is so fun and bright, and can be incorporated into floral design in so many different ways. It’s “a nurturing color that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time, displays a lively presence within social media,” Pantone said, which is so true.
